The second phase of our community initiative, Autism Empowerment, has officially commenced. Following extensive discussions, presentations, and brainstorming sessions with Autism Maurice and the Global Rainbow Foundation, which operates a training center for adults, JCI City Plus is dedicated to facilitating access to training for capable autistic children. With the support of sponsors such as Magellan, we aspire to improve the quality of life and promote greater independence for these individuals. The Mental Health team is continuously striving to secure additional sponsorships and trainers through their relentless efforts.
JCI City Plus, in collaboration with Be a Roshan, recently organized a transformative training session with Autism Mauritius, focusing on the well-being of children with autism and their parents. During this engaging event, participants experienced the calming effects of reiki therapy, which promotes relaxation and emotional healing. Parents were educated on the significance of reiki, highlighting its potential benefits in reducing anxiety and enhancing the overall emotional health of both children and caregivers.
In addition to the reiki session, the children engaged in mandala painting, a creative activity known to foster mindfulness and self-expression. This form of art allows children to explore their creativity while also helping to improve concentration and motor skills. Be a Roshan emphasized to parents how these activities not only support the children’s development but also encourage family bonding through shared experiences.
